Growing Ice Cream Cake: flowering time, yield and breeder specs

Ice Cream Cake flowers in about 8–9 weeks according to Leafly and Zamnesia, in about 56 days according to Weedmaps, and in 55–65 days for Barney’s Farm’s seed version. Expect a medium-tall plant with dense, frosty flowers and a large yield; sources disagree on how hard it is to grow well.1,2,3,4

What the plant is like

Expect dense, resin-coated flowers. AllBud describes small, dense, grape-shaped forest-green buds with thick orange hairs and frosty white trichomes; GreenState describes chunky, bulbous cones in cool green with plum-purple bits, and Leafly calls it a green and purple beauty with frosty buds.8,9,10 Leafly says it grows medium-tall, indoors or out, with a large yield; Barney’s Farm gives 90–110 cm indoors and 150–200 cm outdoors for its version.1,4

What to watch for

Difficulty is the disputed part. Leafly recommends it for intermediate and advanced growers and Weedmaps says the largest yields need an experienced hand, while Zamnesia rates its seed versions moderate.1,2,3 Leafly’s 2021 trend report went further: it takes a master grower to bring out the best in Ice Cream Cake, and lesser crops were “destined to become bargain B-buds” or vape oil.11 Zamnesia describes its autoflower as mold- and pest-resistant, a seller’s claim for that version only.5

Seeds and the law in the US

Under the amended federal definition of hemp, viable seeds from cannabis plants above 0.3% total THC, including THCA, are not hemp.12 Congress delayed that exclusion, with most of the new definition, from Nov 12 to Dec 11, 2026; only the exclusion of products with cannabinoids the plant cannot produce naturally starts on Nov 12.13 Home cultivation rules are set by each state. This site does not sell seeds.
